Spira Blackbird

Professional system for high-precision digitization of 16 and 35 mm microfilm

Spira Blackbird is a benchtop scanner designed by Memooria for professional digitization of 16- and 35-mm film reel-to-reel microfilm. Designed for archives, libraries and institutions handling large volumes of microfilm material, it combines high acquisition quality, operational flexibility and advanced workflow automation .

The system integrates high-end photographic components, uniform and controlledLED lighting, and proprietary software capable of governing every step of the process-from acquisition to negative development and automatic generation of derivative files and metadata. The presence of a moving fork allows the film to be gently flattened, reducing distortion and ensuring maximum respect for the original.

Also designed for portability and operation in different contexts, Spira Blackbird fits easily into structured digitization flows, integrating with DAM systems and Industry 4.0 environments for efficient, traceable and scalable management of microfilmed assets.

– Architecture

The benefits of digitization with Spira Blackbird

Acquisition flow control

The software governs every step of the digitizing process, from acquisition to negative development, allowing for customized configurations and work sessions that can be recalled quickly and reliably.

File and metadata automation

A powerful macro engine enables automatic generation of file names, management of complex counters, and application of advanced rules, thus reducing manual errors and operational time.

Asynchronous production of derived files

The generation of the derived files occurs in the background without interfering with acquisition, allowing the number of hourly shots to be maximized and the overall efficiency of the system to be improved.

Advanced color quality

The system supports illuminator calibration, automatic uniformity correction and customizable color profiling, thus ensuring consistent and repeatable results over time.

Integration with DAM and IIIF

Spira Blackbird integrates with the Coosmo DAM cloud, enabling automatic uploading of images and metadata and export of data in standard formats for archiving and publication.

Ready for Industry 4.0

In this system, machine and software are Industry 4.0 certified. This allows integration into advanced manufacturing environments and access to tax benefits related to investments in tangible and intangible assets.
